Paul Shanahan - Guitar
In the Early 60’s Paul played lead guitar in Leamington band Jalopy Ride playing 4-5 nights a week throughout the midlands and supported many chart bands of that era at major Midland venues. Turned professional in the mid 60's when joining Northampton based band Black Velvet, toured Germany three times and on returning to UK backed American soul singer Lucas (Lucas & The Soul Sound) playing up to 7 night a week throughout the UK club circuit. Toured with bands such as: The Four Tops, The Flirtations, Geno Washington. Played the University circuit on the same bill as bands such as Deep Purple, Spooky Tooth, King Crimson, Nina Simone etc. Performed at most of the 60’s London 'in crowd' clubs such as Blaise’s club, Whiskey A Go Go, Flamingo club, Bag O’Nails, Scotch of St James and the Beatles Revolution Club amongst many others. Late 60,s Left The Lucas band and played Montreal & Toronto in Canada for nine months with the future bass player of The Glitter Band before returning to the UK to join Cupid's Inspiration who with two top ten hits in the bag toured extensively for many years. In the 90's Paul became the Director of a chemical manufacturing company but after meeting up again with Bob Poole, he came out of musical retirement to play again for Cupid's Inspiration. |
